Years ago, my career began in the corporate world, working for large banks and utilities; and eventually to a variety of small businesses where I worked as controller/accounting manager. Then for the past 11 years I have been self-employed, providing consulting services to very small business owners and self employed individuals in the Central New York area. As a self-employed person, I know what its like to juggle multiple priorities and to work hard. In fact, I acquired a B.S. in Finance from New York University by taking evening classes, while holding down a full time job.

 

I also know that it’s essential not to isolate yourself, and that it can be invaluable to get involved with professional organizations. The National Association of Female Executives, The American Association of University Women, The National Notary Association and The Institute of Management Accountants have provided me with up-to-date information on issues that affect business owners, as well as opportunities to network, share ideas, and create strategic alliances. As well, organizations such as Coachville.com provide tools and training to help clients pursue their uniqueness and overcome self-limiting obstacles.

 

It is also important to give back to the community. Currently, I am a director on The board of the Fair Haven Chamber of Commerce and a director of The Cayuga County Convention and Tourism Board. In addition, I am a past President of the Oswego branch of The American Association of University Women and currently sit on their board as newsletter editor.
